{BVU makes it easy for small nonprofits, like RePlay for Kids, to reach volunteers. The service they provide of coordinating team events and connecting us to local business is invaluable. Their services allows our small staff to focus on our mission of increasing the availability of adapted toys to kids in need.

{Every year we do a Done-in-a-Day volunteer project called Fields for the Future. This is a project where our staff volunteers their time to renovate and beautify a baseball field in the City of Cleveland. BVU really does a lot of behind the scene work for us to set it up so that when we go out there that day, it’s really easy for people to engage and just get into the work and have a great day.

{Community outreach has become a large focal point for our team here at OverDrive. Partnering with BVU was one of the best decisions we made this year for OverDrive, our team and the community. It has ignited our desire to give back and has helped us do it with success and impact.

{I wouldn’t have been able to fill the position, hire somebody who had the depth and breadth of knowledge and have the ability to truly be an independent and functioning person. I wouldn’t have been able to afford that level of person.

Board Matching is a Win-Win for All Involved. Here’s How It Works.

Step 1: Nomination

Employers nominate stand-out candidates to participate in the board-matching program. Candidates then complete an application, identifying types of organization that interest them most.

Step 2: Interview

BVU interviews candidates who are interested in nonprofit board member positions to learn more about their backgrounds and passions, and then shares with them specific nonprofit board opportunities that meet their interests and match their skills.

Step 3: Referral

Once candidates decide which nonprofit board to pursue, BVU contacts that organization to recommend them. The two sides meet to see if it’s a good fit. If both agree to the board match, candidates move forward in the organization’s recruitment process and join a committee or are elected to the nonprofit board.

Step 4: Training

Board matching candidates attend a three-hour board membership training seminar to prepare them to effectively serve as nonprofit board members.
